Cutting my own hair

I've been wanting to cut my hair for a while, but hate paying the prices for having a simple hair cut. I've cut my own hair in the past, so was happy to do that again, but each time I've cut my hair I'd forgotten the process I'd used the previous time. I'd seen these tools before that you can use to help with cutting your own hair, so thought I'd give it a try.

This is the before. It's been a while since I last had my hair cut and it was getting a bit too long. I have curly hair and it was becoming quite difficult to straighten and also to have curly. I had a couple of long layers, but my hair was pretty much all the same length.

After. My hair is still pretty long even though I cut off around 2 - 3 inches from the length. As you can see it is all shaped around the front now, with the shortest layer sitting just below my chin.

There are also layers at the back too, with a U shape to the cut.

To get this look I had my hair flipped to the front which creates the layered effect. There is also a smaller tool which you can use for your fringe. I used that to shape my hair further around my face.

If you want your hair to be cut straight at the back you can do that too, but you'll need help with that as it's cut from the back.

I may still go shorter as it's hard having long hair with a little one, but my hair definitely feels better for being cut.

  2. Have a couple of hair cutting scissors (paper scissors don't function admirably and can demolish your hair). You can buy pursue a couple at any nearby excellence supply store.
