Not Too Old To Be Mum - Rebekah
This week’s "Not Too Old To Be Mum" is with Rebekah. Rebekah isn't part of the blogging world, she just wanted to share her story. If you read my story of how I became a mum at nearly 40 you may remember her. She was one of my friends in the photo with me when I was single and here she is now sharing her story of how she became a mum.
First of all congratulations on your baby. How old were you when you had your baby/babies?
I was 40, and having my baby was the best 40th birthday present I could have wished for!

Tell me a bit about yourself and your main reasons for having a child(ren) after the age of 35?
I am separated for more than 10 years. I am an emotionally battered wife. My ex-husband called me a swine which refers to a pig who cannot give birth. It is degrading as he created a rumour against me. I have no idea why we don't have a child for more than 13 years. Some said that our chromosomes are incompatible. After a few years, I found the strength to leave him. To make story short. I found a job and a man who is 8 years younger than me. I didn't expect that I am carrying a child because of what happened in my past. So, there is no definite reason why I have a child at this age. I did not do anything. What I remember is I (do) prayed hard to have a child.

My name is Sam, married to John for 7 yrs after meeting in Cornwall. My son Jack is four and I have two teenage step boys. I've always wanted to be a mum since I was little. I loved my dollies and really looked after them. I had a couple of long term relationships, the last one being 13 yrs and particularly abusive and before I knew it I was in my late thirties.

I didn’t meet my husband until I was in my early thirties, and got married at 36. Before then, I thought I wanted children but the time and relationship was never right. I’d decided I would probably pursue it on my own and then I met my husband. I think many women find themselves in that position – men too.

In common with a lot of people nowadays, I've had two long-term relationships. I was with my ex for 15 years, then single, then with my current partner, who himself had 2 children. We really wanted another child to bring the family together and the kids were keen too. We had a big house and all the toys we'd ever need. Once we had him, we realised he would end up alone once all the big kids went away, so if we wanted company for him we'd have to be quick. My personal comfortable limit was age 38.

I'm Christy and I live in South Wales with my husband and son. I started writing my blog shortly after the birth of my son when I was 35 as I wanted to share my journey and experiences. Having a baby later in life was not really a choice for us. We started trying for a baby when I was 25 when we had been married for a year. It took us 9 years to conceive due to a few health problems, including PCOS and Endometriosis. For the longest time we didn't expect to be able to have a child at all and feel very blessed that we got there in the end. It showed us how strong we are as people and how strong our marriage was.

Not Too Old To Be Mum - Mary
This week’s "Not Too Old To Be Mum" is with Mary from Over 40 and a Mum to One
First of all congratulations on your baby. How old were you when you had your baby/babies?
I'm what is apparently now classed as a 'geriatric' mum - I was 41 when my son was born in 2009.
Tell me a bit about yourself and your main reasons for having a child(ren) after the age of 35?
I'm Mary, just turned 50 and a Mum to one 8 year old boy. I've run Over 40 and a Mum to One for five years now, sharing my adventures with my son. I was always very career driven and although I loved being an Auntie I'd never really considered having children of my own. All that changed when I got divorced at 39 after being with my then husband for over twenty years. I questioned everything that I'd believed in and realised that I could have so much more. I met someone else, he didn't have children either and we decided that if we were going to have a family we'd need to start trying sooner than later.

Not Too Old To Be Mum - Liberty
This week’s "Not Too Old To Be Mum" is with Liberty from Liberty on the Lighter Side.
How old were you when you had your baby/babies?
I had my first baby when I was 30, second when I was 32, third at 34 and fourth at 36.
Tell me a bit about yourself and your main reasons for having a child(ren) after the age of 35?
I had a notion when I was young that four was a good number of children to have. I have no idea where that came from as I am one of five. But after our third baby we seriously toyed with the idea of whether we should have any more children. Our last had been a very challenging baby, in her first year she hardly ever slept for longer than 40 minute stretches and the exhaustion put a strain on our marriage. There were so many other factors to consider too. We’d no longer be able to use a standard sized car and there would be further financial burdens to factor in later on. Pregnancy had taken its toll on my body and I was worried that it was going to exacerbate problems I already had. I was getting older (I was 35) and I was scared about another delivery too. I finally had peace about our decision to not have any more children and then six weeks later I discovered I was pregnant! We were in shock for a few weeks (shed some tears) until we came to terms with it. She was born 3 weeks after I turned 36. Of course, now we have absolutely no regrets about having another baby, she is such a funny, sensitive and creative soul, it’s a delight having another little person in our family to love.

Not Too Old To Be Mum - Justine
This week’s "Not Too Old To Be Mum" is with Justine from Lil Jem and Baby E.
First of all congratulations on your baby. How old were you when you had your baby/babies?
I was 34 when I fell pregnant, 35 when I gave birth, to my daughter. An only child.
Tell me a bit about yourself and your main reasons for having a child(ren) after the age of 35?
I was 27 when I met my husband. Previous relationships weren't stable /loving enough to even consider having children. Three years into our relationship we were ready to try for a baby. Due to fertility issues, we ended up using IVF. After the first attempt failed, we finally got lucky when I was 34.

Not Too Old To Be Mum - Sara
I was 39, 5 months off being 40 which I was strangely relieved about. I think that I felt as though I would be an older mum, but not that much of an older mum, if that makes sense,

Not Too Old To Be Mum - My Story
This is the first post in the series Not Too Old To Be Mum for my blog Home Family Life. This is my story. I will be sharing stories from other Mamas who have had children after the age of 35.
How old were you when you had your baby/babies?
I had my first baby at 38 and second at 40.
I'd always wanted to be a mum, but had never had the opportunity to till in my late 30s. I had dated over the years, but nothing serious and hadn't met anyone I wanted to spend my life with. I started dating my now husband when I was 35, almost 36. We married when I was almost 37, fell pregnant 6 months after being married and had my first boy 2.5 months after I turned 38. You can read more about my story here.
