The Busy Mum’s Guide to Dressing your Kids Well

It feels like kids today are more fashion-forward than most adults have ever been in their lives. There are many reasons for this; there are more options on the market for children than there were thirty years ago, fashion trends evolve relatively quickly with access to different styles online, and kids simply have more access to immediate fashion evolutions.

Weekend Tot Style - I Need a Nap

Why is it that even if our babies sleep soundly we mothers never seem to get enough sleep!!! The baby has slept brilliantly this week and that's without his dummy (what a clever boy!). But me on the other hand has had a terrible week of sleep. The concerned looks on my co-workers faces as they ask if I'm OK has said it all. A combination of worry, stress and emotions over finances, child care and my work situation has resulted in very little sleep and very puffy eyes. So this weeks outfit is dedicated to my 😴

Weekend Tot Style - Keeping it Casual

Today's outfit is super casual. We are having a day at home after a busy week. The little man is still suffering with a cough and cold and mama is tired after a busy week at work. But today is the start of our weekend, so chilling at home is just what is needed.

I must admit the body warmer lasted as long as I was taking photos, then he ripped it off and started climbing the furniture again. But it's so cute on him I couldn't resist putting it on.

From looking at these photos you'd never know I had a very active boy on my hands who is go, go, go 24/7. Even in his sleep he squires all over his cot.

Weekend Tot Style - Sunday Outift

I thought my boy was looking super cute in his outfit last Sunday, so of course grabbed my camera to capture some photos of him, before he ate, dribbled too much or fell down outside 😆.

Can you tell he has a mama who likes to take his photo? I posed him on the sofa for a neutral background, crossed his legs and placed his hands on his lap. And he stayed still!!!! Pretty amazing for a boy who is constantly on the go.

Wedding Guest Outfit

Sorry I don't have a proper photo of myself and what I wore. But this shows it pretty well.

We attended Keith's (my husbands) cousins wedding early September. I knew it would be a hat/fascinator affair, so wanted something pretty for the day. It needed to be on a budget as money is tight and I didn't want to spend too much for something just for 1 day. I had a dress in mind in my wardrobe, but when I tried it on it was still too snug. I ended up buying this top from Debenhams in the sale for around £20, which is actually a Wallis top. I teamed it with a light grey NEXT skirt I already had, my ivory Ruby Shoo's and a cream fascinator. The Ruby Shoo's I bought from Amazon for when I got married and I'm not sure where the fascinator came from, but I've had it for a few years.

Here's what the outfit looked like.

Versatile Red Dress

I bought this NEXT dress a number of years ago from Ebay and although I can go months without wearing it, it has been such a good buy. It doesn't crease very much, is so comfortable to wear and is very flattering to my figure (it's great at hiding lumps and bumps). I even got to wear it right through my pregnancy without putting it out of shape.
